The van ministry began because of the undeniable need for children, to provide transportation to those children unable to get to church on their own to enable them to hear the word of Jesus. We hit the road in an old 1977 Dodge van, lovingly named the Hoop-D Van. It served well but being over 20 years old, it wasn’t very dependable. After much prayer, God blessed us with 2 new 2001 Ford vans. Wha-ho! We were blessed over and above!! In the midst of it all, God humbled a die-hard Chevy man by making him drive a Ford! I realized however, regardless the maker a vehicle; it is Him the maker of life and the Savior of souls that matters.
We believe that no one should do any ministry for a mere pat on the back – not by works but by faith, saith the Lord. This ministry is led by people with sincere heartfelt passion to give persons without a ride to church every opportunity possible to be saved into the kingdomof God.
These participants understand and accept the challenge of this fast growing ministry. Just as Pleasant Grove has taken on the command to minister to this four county area, so the van ministry accepts the call also. Jesus gave the great commission for all Christians, to go ye into all the world and preach the gospel. Our mission, as a van ministry, is to go into all four surrounding counties and enable all who are willing to come and hear the gospel.
To accomplish and fulfill God’s calling on this ministry it needs volunteers! If you have a license to drive you can be a minister for God that can literally change the future of a life, a community, and possibly the world.
